Bonnie "Nana" Bishop Saunders

October 30, 1950 - July 10, 2021

Bonnie “Nana” Bishop Saunders, age 70 of Troutville passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Bonnie was born in Roanoke October 30, 1950 and lived in Troutville her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Edward N. Bishop and William and Nannie Lucille Bryant Nunley.

Bonnie was a specialist in credit card disputes for Wells Fargo Bank and worked for them for more than twenty years. But above all, she was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, playing Hay Day on her phone, enjoyed the beach, light houses along the Atlantic Coast and Lake Michigan, flowers, and was very patriotic.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathie Ciavone’. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Jerry Williams Saunders Sr.; sons: Jay (Mary) Saunders, Jr. of Salem, Don (Kitty) Ciavone’ of Michigan; daughters: Denise (Lenny) Poplaskie of Michigan, Tammy (Joe) Iskandar and Brandi (Chris) Walker all of Troutville; grandchildren: Maressa (Kyle) Prah, Haley Saunders, Sarah (Cameron) Allen, Amanda Abraham, Frank Poplaskie, Megan Poplaskie, Steven Poplaskie, Julie Poplaskie, Nathan (Kinzee) Powers, Catie Iskandar, Isis Iskandar; great-grandchildren: Mikey Johns, Delaney Johns, Ethan Saunders-Walker, Tristyn Walker, Zach Combs, Kylie Prah, Evie Eppard, Kendall Prah, LeStat Cullens, Lily Allen, and Jaxon Powers; brothers-in-law: James (Carol) Saunders of Moneta, Roby Saunders of North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Alice Mathis of North Carolina, and Susie Trejo of Thaxton; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be 11:00 am Tuesday, July 13 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Ben Peyton officiating. Burial will be at Troutville Cemetery.
