Gertrude Wishon MInter

Gertrude Wishon Minter, 89, of Axton, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, in Martinsville. She was born May 18, 1932, in Axton, Virginia, to the late Earl Eugene Wishon and Ocie Bryant Wishon.

In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Junior Clifton Minter; sons, Wendell Eugene Minter, and Keith Rodrick Minter; and infant brother.

Mrs. Minter was a longtime member of Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She served the Lord at her husband’s side during his many years of ministry. She had been a hairdresser for many years, and enjoyed camping, sewing, and reading.

She is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Linda Minter; sister, Florence W. Boothe; four grandchildren, Misty Scofield(Jim), Katie Baird(Jason), Crystal Balderas, and Savannah Minter; five great grandchildren, Dylan Scofield, Nate Baird, P.J. Balderas, Caroline Baird, and Dominic Santos.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00PM July 13, 2021, in Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Rev. Mike Hearp officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, and also at the home of her daughter in law on 181 Alice Drive, Axton, on Sunday from 1 to 6 PM, and Monday from 2 to 6 PM. Burial will follow the service in Roselawn Burial Park.
