D.W. Cleaven "Cleave" McGuire

October 28, 1942 - July 28, 2021

Mr. W. Cleaven McGuire 78, of Pembroke, Virginia, departed this life Wednesday morning, July 28, 2021 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital.  Born at home in Pembroke, Virginia on October 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Roy Edward and Shirley Rose McGuire.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda McGuire.  Cleave leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jody; son, Raymond (Tammy) McGuire of Pearisburg, VA; step-son, Michael (Pamela) Atkins of Salem, Virginia, grandson, John Cleaven “J.C” (Kelsey) McGuire; granddaughter, Makayla McGuire and her special friend Christopher; and a step-great grandson, Greycen; sister Bonnie (Billy) Gautier; brother, Gene “Woody” (Ginger) McGuire; special nephew, Stanley (Vickie) Lucas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cleave will be sorely missed in our community of Giles County.  He worked with National Gypsum in Ripplemead, Virginia for 19 years before he decided to start his own business as an electrician.  He used his electrician skills and more to help so many people.  He could do it all and you could depend on him.  When he said he would be there, he was true to his word.  His love for 40 years, was working in the concession stand at the baseball field in Pembroke, Virginia and meeting people.  He could make some awesome hot dog “chili”.  People would drop by the field and pick up hot dogs just to take home for dinner!  Cleave also enjoyed being a scout leader for 15 years.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Gary Poff and Eddie Kendall officiating.  Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park.  Family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  A guestbook is available by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com.  The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to be serving the McGuire Family.
