Vicky Lynn Cooper Smith went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 26th.

Vicky was born on July 21st, 1955, the fifth daughter born to her family. She graduated from Staunton River High School. Vicky lived her life boldly, on her terms taking on any challenge that came her way. She was a talented seamstress known by her family for her home decorating style and skill. She regularly gave of her time and talents to causes most meaningful to her when possible.

She was a Salem City school bus driver for many years, which prepared her for her favorite job, driving the Augusta Green Jackets Minor League Baseball team for four seasons. "Miss Vicky" was a friend to the coaching staff and many players, including pitcher Madison Bumgarner. She last worked as a courier for Quest Diagnostics in Salem.

Vicky was predeceased by her parents, Rev. Frank S. and Elizabeth Cooper. Vicky had cared for both her parents in her home, providing them with a safe and loving environment in their later years. She was also predeceased by her brother, Frank Gary Cooper, her parent's first child, who tragically died as an infant.

Vicky loved her daughters and grandchildren, Brei Stevenson (husband Charlie Stevenson) and their daughter, Brooke, Kate Dowdy (husband Marcus Dowdy), and their children Maria and Isaac. She was also survived by her sisters, Betty Hannabass, Anna Ellis, Sarah Altice, and Cathy Cooper. Also surviving are five additional nephews, three nieces, their spouses, children, and many cousins, Cooper and Kingery.

The immediate family will gather privately to remember and celebrate Vicky. The family wishes to thank the medical and hospice staff who cared for Vicky in her final hours. Instead of flowers, the family asks you to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name.
