Ida Vann Fizer

September 2, 1929 - August 2, 2021

Ida Vann Fizer, longtime resident of Bassett, Virginia and most recently of the SpiriTrust Lutheran community in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, left this world to meet her Lord and Savior and joined her husband, on August 2, 2021. Born on September 2, 1929 to the late Luther Rochester Vann, Sr. and Martha Anderson (Payne) Vann at the Payne family farm in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Ida graduated from Wake Forest University in 1951 and then married the love of her life, the late Adron Gene (“Gene”) Fizer who went before her in 2005. They celebrated their marriage for almost 54 years.

She was a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church in Stanleytown, Virginia where she sang in the adult choir and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She was a voracious reader and an avid fan of Charles Wysocki and Jane Wooster Scott, jigsaw puzzles, spending innumerable hours pursuing those hobbies, even more so after Gene passed. Ida also was a student of scripture and enjoyed conversation discussing both theology and her love of the Lord.

Ida is survived by her three children, Michael Barry Fizer, of Tweeds Head, New South Wales, Australia, Timothy Eugene Fizer and his wife, Lorainne Hench, of Parkton, Maryland and Amy Janine Fizer Bickel and her husband, Steve, of Tura, Meghalaya, India; her loving grandchildren, Rachel Bickel, Andrew Bickel and his wife Karen, Anna Bickel, Sarah Bickel, Philip Bickel and his wife, Megan, Hannah Fizer, and Benjamin Fizer; four great-grandchildren and her brother, Luther Rochester Vann, Jr., and his wife, Jeanette.

Ida was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Carolyn Vann and Lucy Rochester Vann.
