Ralph Blanton Stone

Ralph Blanton Stone, 93, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away August 3, 2021 at Sovah Health, Martinsville, Virginia.

Born on August 26, 1927 in Fieldale, Virginia, he was the son of the late Frank Hobson Stone and Winsie Stanley Stone.

Ralph “Doc” was a lifelong resident of Fieldale and a 1945 graduate of Fieldale High School. He was a 1950 graduate of Perry Business School with a concentration in Accounting. Mr. Stone served in the United States Army during World War II.

Ralph retired from Hooker Furniture Corporation as Secretary-Assistant Treasurer and Senior Credit Manager with over 40 years of service.

Ralph was a member of Fieldale Baptist Church for 73 years and served in various positions including Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Chancel Choir Member.

In addition to his parents and step-father Albert E. Stone, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wells Stone, one son, Frank Edwin Stone and one sister, Ethel Stone Few.

Surviving is one daughter, Elizabeth Donnan Stone, of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sons, Robert Blanton Stone of Fieldale, Virginia and John Carlton Stone of Roanoke, Virginia. One granddaughter, Melissa S. Jones and husband Eric of Moseley, Virginia, one great-grandson Landon Riley Jones, one sister Jewel S. Wigginton and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 at Collins Funeral Services, 30 Riverside Drive, Bassett, Virginia at 1:00 PM with Rev. Allen Jackson officiating.

Interment with military rites to follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at 12:00 PM.
