John David Cassell

John David Cassell, 83, of Ridgeway, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his home.  He was born in Patrick County on December 29, 1937 to the late Roy Larkin Cassell and the late Alice Morrison Cassell.   In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Cassell, Jr., Pete  Cassell, Paul Cassell and Bob Cassell and a sister Jerolene  LaRue.
John is survived by his loving wife, Janie Stowe Manning Cassell; son Roy Darrell Manning, Sr.; grandchildren, Roy Darrell Manning, Jr. and Joshua Darrell Manning; step-grandchildren, Blaine Reynolds and Bennett Reynolds; sisters, Barbara Blankenship, Maggie Mitchell and Martha Robertson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 8 at Grace Baptist Church in Ridgeway with Dr. Dennis Wingate officiating.  Burial will follow in Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Bassett.
Due to the governor’s requirements for Covid-19, a face covering is recommended and social distancing is to be observed when visiting at the chapel.
