Arlene Faye Hunter
Arlene Faye Craft Hunter, 78, of Woodchuck Drive, Appomattox, died Saturday, August 14, 2021. She was the wife of Howlett Essel Hunter.
Born on Langley Air Force Base, August 10, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Katherine Pauline Echols and Raymond Edgar Craft. Faye received her BS, RN, MSN from the University of Virginia. She taught nursing at LGH, Virginia Baptist and Lynchburg College. Teaching gave Faye great joy, and she loved her time instructing young people in nursing. Faye retired from Lynchburg College and moved to Florida where she taught nursing at the University of South Florida for a couple years. She had a strong belief in Jesus Christ. Faye enjoyed birds, plants, flowers and gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Charlotte H. Outland and husband, John “Jay” of Richmond and Paul Raymond Hunter and wife, Sarah Elizabeth of Mt. Jackson; two sisters, Callie C. Arritt of Woodbridge and Paula R. Craft of Richmond; one brother, Steve Craft of Richmond; six grandchildren, Alison O. Zaliagiris and husband, Tom, Mary Kate Outland, Hope Elizabeth Hunter, Avrie Joy Hunter, Chloe Grace Hunter and Jonah Michael Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Norman Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Early’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
