Sharlona Evangie "Shawnee" Arrington Wimmer

Sharlona Arrington “Shawnee” Wimmer, 68, of Salem, VA passed away peacefully at her father’s home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born on Thursday, May 28, 1953, to Edward Arrington of Salem, VA, and the late Frances Jones Arrington in Franklin County, VA. Shawnee retired after 33 years from Virginia Western Community College. She was passionate about the care of all animals, her own and those in need. She grieved the loss of each and every one that blessed her life. Her strong ties with childhood friends, coworkers, and extended family were a constant comfort and joy.
Shawnee is survived by her husband of twenty-eight years, Norman “Buster” Wimmer; son, Jason Hartman; brothers; Dale (Ann), Chuck (Cindy); stepdaughter, Mandy Morgan; step-grandchildren, Devon Council (Alexis), Makenzie Wimmer, Tori and Tanis MacFarland of Richlands, NC; great-grandson, Davian Council; niece, Sheri Sloss; nephews, Keith (Amber) Arrington and Ross Arrington; great-niece, Taylor Sloss; great-nephews, Kyle Sloss and Wyatt Arrington.
The family would like to thank Nexxus Homecare and Legacy Hospice (Tosha, Tim & Candy) for their remarkable care and support during her final days.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
