Dorothy "Dot" Coleman

Dorothy “Dot” Johnson Coleman, of Cone Street, Appomattox passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, at Babcock Manor. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth “Red” Edward Coleman for 73 years.
Born in Appomattox County, Va., on September 15, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Gladys Patteson and Harry Garland Johnson. She was a graduate of E. C. Glass High School, and Phillips Business college. Her first job was with Leech, Hawkins, and Scott Accounting Firm in Lynchburg. For over 30 years, she was the office manager for the Ford Dealership in Appomattox; under three ownerships, Grinnells Ford, Lawson Ford, and Appomattox Ford. After retirement Dot worked for School Pictures in Appomattox. Dot was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 75 years and was very involved in the United Methodist Women.
She enjoyed organizing the huge family vacation every year in Virginia Beach with over 20 families going the same week in July for many years. Dot always had a smile on her face, and a courteous and loving approach to everyone. In true southern style Dot always said thank you to everyone who did anything for her, even down to the nurse drawing her blood.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth H. Coleman and wife, Marie P. of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Anna Campbell and husband Cory, Carter Coleman and wife, Danielle, and David Buskey and wife, Jamie; four great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kenna, Obi and Clementine; a sister, Barbara Venzke of Virginia Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca “Beck” Hudson.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2021, at Rebecca Cemetery with Rev. John Flood officiating.
Family and friends may view Dot at Robinson Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon until 5 p.m.
