Muriel Beatrice "Bea" Martin Bullard

Muriel Beatrice “Bea” Martin Bullard, 93, of Fieldale, Va. passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021. She was born in Henry County on April 21, 1928 to the late Gladys and J.W. Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, H. Earl Bullard. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Martin, Richard Francis Martin, and her sister, Barbara Campbell. .
She is survived by her daughter Meryl Bullard (Weldon Barnard), her son, Earl Keith Bullard (Donna), and her daughter Cheryl Kellogg (Bill) and her three grandchildren, James Phillip (JP) and Casey Kellogg, and Jeremiah Keith Bullard.
Bea was a lifelong resident of Fieldale and thought the world of her community and the people who lived there. She was a lifetime member of Fieldale Baptist Church and served in various positions including Church Secretary, Deaconness, and Sunday School teacher.
She worked at the Fieldale Post Office for over 40 years, retiring in 1991. Bea’s passion for the community of Fieldale led her to research the history of the town and to make efforts to memorialize this history for future generations. She served as the President of the Fieldale Heritage Foundation for over 13 years and there have been 13 festivals celebrating the town. She was instrumental in the placement of Fieldale on the Virginia Register of Historic Places, the installment of a marker commemorating Colonel George Waller, the first settler of Fieldale, and the preservation of a portion of the old Iron Bridge.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Fieldale Baptist Church, 175 Church Hill Rd., Fieldale, VA 24089. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Reverend Allen Jackson. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
