Doris Jamerson Carter

Doris Jamerson Carter, 84, of Russell Woods Drive, Lynchburg, died Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was the wife of the late David Warner “Monk” Carter.

Born in Lynchburg, July 26, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Myrtle Frances Wright and Robert DuVall Jamerson.

She is survived by two sons, Ellsworth Joel Carter and wife, Linda of Sterling, and Bruce Durwin Carter of Lynchburg; two daughters, Theresa C. Moore and husband, Samuel of Zuni, and Robin C. Carrico and husband, Michael of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Walker Carter; one brother, R.D. Jamerson; and one sister, Nina J. Doyen.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Moore officiating.

The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m., until time of service at the cemetery.
