John Edward Hairston

John Edward Hairston, 71, of Martinsville, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at his home. He was born September 16, 1949 in Henry County to the late John Early Hairston and Evelyn Martin Hairston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell Scott Hairston and Albert Turner.

Mr. Hairston was retired from Fieldcrest Mills, and had served in the United States Army. He graduated from G. W. Carver High School, and had attended Galilean House of Worship church. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed Westerns, and attended Post Homer Dillard 78 faithfully.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Brandy Hairston Whitfield (James); sisters, Joyce Waller (Alfred) and Janet Collins (Wes); grandson, Jaden Whitfield; special nephew, Anthony Hairston; special friend, Nancy Dillard; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. The Graveside Service will be on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Fair Haven Memorial Park in Spencer.
