Marian Ruth Guckert

Marian Ruth Guckert, 93 of Bedford “popped off” peacefully at her home on Friday, September 24, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Guckert and Hazel Cartwright Guckert as well as her brother, Eddie, her best friend, Mary and her dear constant companion Whippet, Josie.

She was born October 25, 1927 in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated from Montebello Senior High School in 1945. After over nine years in private industry, Marian was recruited for the U. S. Department of State Foreign Service. She was assigned to U. S. Diplomatic posts in Manila, Calcutta and Beirut. After foreign service, Marian entered Civil Service with the U. S. Department of the Interior, retiring in 1984 from Geological Survey’s Headquarters in Reston, VA as Management Assistant in the Water Resources Division.

After much travel and many classes, Marian could usually be found in her abundant vegetable garden; enjoying many years with the Ladies Golf Association at the Bedford Country Club; and caring for her beloved canines, Zoe, Zeta and Josie.

She is survived by a sister, Susan; a niece and three nephews, all residing in Norther California.

To honor Marian’s expressed wishes there will be no services and burial arrangements will be private.
