Anthony Sherod (Rod) Prunty

Anthony Sherod (Rod) Prunty, age 49, departed this life, peacefully, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at WakeMed Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. Rod was born on August 7, 1972 in Martinsville, VA, to Anthony and Casenio Prunty. Rod graduated from Bassett High School in 1990 and went on to receive a degree in computer technology from ECPI. Rod worked for Comcast-Xfinity Cable Company, where he was loved by all of the employees and customers he encountered. Rod was a loving father, son, brother, nephew, and a great friend to everyone who knew him. He loved his children, parents and brothers more than anything, and was always there for them whenever needed.

Rod was proceeded in death by his Maternal grandparents, Willie and Mildred Holt; and Paternal Grandmother, Avis Prunty.

He leaves to mourn his loss his three children, Shyheim, Alaysha and Trinity Prunty all of Martinsville, VA., his parents, Anthony and Casenio Prunty. His brother Tyree (Teedy) Prunty (Christy); Uncles Melvin Prunty (Christy) and Clarence (Wayne) Holt; and Aunt Anita (Auntie) Holt McGill (Shaun) and special friend Bridgette Helms.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 14, 2021 at The Greater International Pentecostal Holiness Church Assembly Building, 980 Carver Road, Martinsville, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Prunty-Holt Family Cemetery, 3189 Columbus Drive, Bassett, Virginia.
