Virginia Herndon Bondurant

Virginia Herndon Bondurant, 87, of Concord, died Friday, October 8, 2021, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Wallace E. Bondurant, Jr. for 52 years.

Born in Charlotte County, Va., on October 16, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Verna Tweedy and James E. Herndon, Sr. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, where she was a choir member and music director for over 40 years. Virginia also served in various other positions in the church including president of the WMU.

She is survived by a son, Joe Bondurant and wife, Hope of Concord; a daughter-in-law, Kay T. Bondurant of Spout Spring; grandchildren, Bryan Ferguson and wife, Dana and Travis Bondurant and fiancée, Amber Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ryleigh, Gracie Jo, Faith Dawn, Kayden, Sophia, and Abel; a sister, Christine H. Moore of Lynchburg; sisters-in-law, Penny C. Herndon, Madelyn Jackson, and Eloise Trent; and brothers-in-law, Carter Bondurant and Richard Bondurant.

She was preceded in death by a son, James “Jimmy” Bondurant; a brother, J. E. Herndon, Jr.; and a sister, Barbara H. Brooks.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at Hebron Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tom Walker and Rev. Sammy Gunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
