Hugh Edgar Gillispie, Jr.

Hugh Edgar Gillispie, Jr., 78, of Salem, VA., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Monday, October 11, 2021. Hugh was a gentle and kind man who loved his family, friends, fishing and sitting in the swing on his back porch with his favorite four-legged girls Heidi and Maggie.
Hugh is reunited in eternal life with his dad and mom, Hugh and Kemper Gillispie; and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Herman Lee.
Left to cherish his memory includes the love of his life his wife, Kathy Gillispie; children, Kem Short, Paul Payne, David Payne, Jim Hall, and Missy Fletcher (Kevin); granddaughter, Kayla Short; brother, Fred Gillispie (Karen); best friend, Clay Walker; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Lotz Salem Chapel on Thursday,     October 14, 2021 from 3 to 5 p.m.   The funeral service will be held following the visitation at 5 p.m.
