Daniel Preston Merricks

Daniel Preston Merricks, 75, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021.

He was a graduate of Milligan College and served 33 years in the Roanoke City Public School System teaching science at Breckinridge and Ruffner Middle Schools. He also spent time in Administration and was involved in the city science fairs. Dan was a great lover of music, hunting, and will be fondly remembered for his amazingly dry sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Eldridge and Opal Dean, and his wife Jennifer Kemp Merricks. Dan is survived by daughter Melissa; grandchildren Evan and Avery; siblings Nancy Gerhardt (Reid), Sandra McCoy (Terry), and Steve Merricks (Penny); numerous nieces and nephews; and many great friends.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Sherwood Memorial Park.
