Peter Lorey "Pete" Strouth

May 25, 1943 - November 5, 2021

Peter Lorey “Pete” Strouth, 78 of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 5, 2021, from his home surrounded by family.
He was born on May 25, 1943, in Salem, Va., son of the late Haven and Goldie McPeak Strouth. Pete proudly served his country in the United States Army earning the rank of E-5 prior to his honorable discharge in 1966. He was a machinest by trade, working for Medeco for several years prior to his retirement. He, along with his wife, Mary, were members of Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church, where numerous friendships had been made. Above all, Pete will be remembered as a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Lee Strouth.

Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Martin Strouth; children, Lonnie Lee Strouth (Jeannette) and Lorey Ann Strouth Bandy (Curtis); grandchildren, Joseph Strouth, Samuel Strouth (Ashley), and Rachel Strouth; great-granddaughter, Delilah Mischloney; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Trudy Garman (Eugene), Anita Canaday, Edgar Martin, Gay Sprouse (Russ), Joseph Martin (Lisa), Joyce Radford (Larry), and Samuel Martin (Sue).

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son funeral home, in Salem.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Pastor Brian Gordon Officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. A meal will be provided for all by the church family at Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church, in Salem following the graveside service.
