John C. Ferguson
John C. Ferguson was born September 22, 1931, in Appomattox County. The third of nine children, born to the late Joe and Ruby Ferguson. He was preceded in death his late wife, Lenna Ferguson; one sister, Virginia “Ray” Megginson; and two brothers, Obadiah Ferguson and A.C. “Connie” Ferguson.
God in his infinite wisdom sent his angels to escort John to his heavenly home on November 16, 2021, where he found eternal rest and peace. John is survived by three sisters, Arlene Cooper of Warrensville Heights, OH, Maxine Thompson of Yonkers, NY, Irona Beard (Bennie) of Solon, OH, Jean Ware of Gladstone; one brother, Sears (Mary) Ferguson of Appomattox; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many cherished friends.
John was reared by his parents. He attended Appomattox Public School. He began his career working in Appomattox Hardware Company under the leadership of Sonny Hardwood. After that, he worked many other jobs, finally retiring from B&W and continued to do small jobs. He had a heart for tractors and loved to garden and would give his produce to neighbors and friends.
John joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age, then later worshipped with White Rock Baptist Church after moving to Campbell County. In later years, he worshipped back at Mt. Zion after having moved back to the family home, until his health failed.
A celebration of John’s life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Sidney Dove officiating.
