Gloria Jean Huddleston Thomasson

Gloria Jean Huddleston Thomasson, 75, of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Goodview, VA, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Monday, November 22, 2021. She was born on Monday, March 25, 1946, to the late Nelson L. Huddleston and Louise D. Jones Huddleston. As fate would have it she married the love of her life, Sammie Thomason. She and her husband opened and operated Goodview Grocery for more than twenty-five years, where the customers not only became friends but extended family members. After her retirement, she was able to fulfill her life-long dream of living at the beach. Gloria’s family were founding members of Goodview Baptist Church where she was a member and attended until her move to the coast. She was a loving wife and mother and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Sammie J. Thomasson; father and mother-in-law, Sammie C. and Helen Thomason; sister, Virginia L. Whitlock and her husband, Ken; brother, Donald Huddleston.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cindy Thomason Smith and husband who was a special son-in-law, Howard, and her son, Kevin Thomason, and wife who was also a special daughter-in-law, Suzanne; brother-in-law, Richard Thomasson, and wife, Sandy; sister-in-law, Meri Huddleston; grandchildren, Mallory Dover and husband, Brad, Kara Light, and Ryan Thomasson; four step-grandchildren, Lesley Fanning, Ashley Karnes, Alana Karnes, and Michael Karnes; fourteen great-grandchildren, Sammy and Jacob Dover, Noah and Bryanna Jefferies, Peyton, John “J.J.”, Gracie Lynn, Bentley, Zoey, Declan, Sofia, Atlas, Riley, and Brady; and her life-long childhood best friend, Doris Cheney Simmons.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Goodview Baptist Church Cemetery, 1057 Grace Court, Goodview, VA 24095, with Pastor Chris Walker officiating.
