Avery Malcom Dalton
Avery Malcom Dalton, 77, of Spout Spring, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Doris Franklin Dalton.
Born on August 26, 1944, in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Jessie Bennett Dalton and Homie Eanes Dalton. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and retired from Archer Creek Foundry with over 30 years of service. Avery was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division Alpha Avengers.
He is survived by one son, Tommy Dalton and wife, Melanie of Lynchburg; three daughters, Delores Jones and husband, Kenneth of Appomattox, Linda Almond and husband, Donnie of Appomattox, Melinda Amos and husband, Ben of Drakes Branch; daughter-in-law, Janice Torrence of Spout Spring; a brother, Alton Dalton and wife, Gloria of Spout Spring; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Angela Ranson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Frank Torrence; four sisters, Janie Blanks, Frances Motley, Lillian Barksdale, and Effie Epperson; and one brother, Gordon Dalton.
A graveside service officiated by Pastor Jeff Worley will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021, at Spout Spring Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Robinson Funeral Home.
