Robert "Bob" Coffey Black

February 10, 1940 - January 2, 2022

Robert (Bob) Coffey Black, 81, of Moneta, Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 5:45 a.m., after an extended illness, at Centra Lynchburg Hospital. He was born February 10, 1940, in Staunton, to the late William and Mary Louise (Coffey) Black. He was their only child. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, then Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Bridgewater College. He retired from American Standard Building Systems in Martinsville. He enjoyed volunteering for many positions with Smith Mountain Lake, including serving on the Smith Mountain Lake Boating Association as President, Poker Run Sponsorship Chairman, Co-Chair Water Safety Council, and on the Smith Mountain Lake Navigation Committee.
Bob is survived by his wife, Connie (Houff), of 60 years, three sons, Robert Douglas (Holly), Neil Edward (Glenda), and Jeffrey Michael (Melinda); and six grandchildren, Peyton Black, Alexander Black, Jayden Santillo, Sawyer Black, Gibson Black, and Abielle Turner. Bob loved country music and the lake, and he received the most joy being with his family.

The funeral service will be Friday, January 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at East Lake Community Church in Moneta.
