Lucy Ann Johnson Pilson
Lucy Ann Johnson Pilson, 93 years old of Bassett, Virginia died peacefully on January 6, 2022 at Sovah Health of Martinsville-Henry County.
Lucy was born in Bassett, Virginia, she was the fourth child of George Oscar Johnson and Mattie Hairston Johnson. She graduated from Henry County Training School, class of 1947. After graduating she moved to Mt. Vernon, New York where she lived for several years until she returned to marry the love of her life, Wallace Edward Pilson, Sr. in 1949 where they raised their seven children.
Lucy was a homemaker (Domestic Engineer) dedicating herself to her family. She enjoyed cooking and always had delicious sweets, cake, cobblers and brownies. She was the best and shared with anyone that happened to stop by.
She loved her church and church family and was a faithful member for years for over 70 years. Serving as a Deaconess, choir member, Missionary and in any other capacity whenever she was needed. Lucy was also a poet, writing many poems throughout her life. Poems of God’s works and the beauty of nature, poems dedicated to her children and grandchildren and many that were just reflections of life. Lucy loved life and wanted the best for everyone. She always had a smile on her face and her laugh was infectous. She never waivered in her faith, knowing God could fix anything. Her “hope” was built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness. She was very strong (A Soldier) even until the end!
