Freddie Ray Burgess

Freddie R. Burgess, 82, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away on January 24, 2022.

He was born on August 26, 1939 in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Fred Brown Burgess and Gertrude Mae Jarrett.

Fred attended the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. He lived in Atlanta, Georgia for many years before returning to Martinsville. He practiced interior decorating and was the proprietor of several antique shops before he retired.

Surviving cousins who were closest to him these last few years are Jenny Holmes, Judith Clarke Nalevanko, Betty Clarke Young, Carolyn Rodgers Zachwieja, Larry Morrison and Sandra Rodgers Kelly. A private family memorial service will be held when the Covid situation allows.
