Jean Earles Payne

Jean Earles Payne, 81, of Fieldale, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Sovah Health-Martinsville. She was born on March 24, 1940 in Henry County to the late Fred Earles and the late Berta Howell Earles.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Earles, Mack Earles, Jewell Earles, Leonard Earles, Clyde Earles and Claude Earles; sisters, Melissa Severance and Louise Young.
She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Bassett and worked as a seamstress for over 50 years for several local companies.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jerry L. Payne; daughter, Melissa Jones (Ron); grand children, Sarah Shelton (Dustin), Davice Jones and Mason Jones; great-grandson, Alec Shelton; brother, Doug Earles; several special nieces, nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Carson Williams officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Bassett.
Due to the governor’s requirements for COVID 19, a face covering is recommended and social distancing should be observed when visiting the funeral home.
