Born in Appomattox County on August 28, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Annie Laurie Scruggs Babcock and Adelbert Archer (Deb) Babcock. She was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband of 49 years, Jesse Morton Rosser, Jr. in 2006; a daughter, Linda Dawn Rosser; a sister, June Starke Babcock; two brothers, W. Byron Babcock and Bradley L. Babcock; and a special aunt, Helen Scruggs Stratton.
Rebecca is survived by two children, Susan R. Jones and husband, Ricky of Rustburg, and Jesse M. Rosser, III and wife, Julie of Chandler, AZ; two grandsons, Evan Daniel Rosser and Kyle Patrick Rosser both of AZ; a step-grandson, David Jones of Nathalie; a niece and a nephew, Gini Babcock of Roanoke and Whit Babcock and wife, Kelly and their three sons of Blacksburg; and a sister-in-law, Mary Dyess Babcock of Concord.
Rebecca graduated from Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the next 63 years, retiring in 2019 at the age of 84. Following graduation, she worked for five years at VBH, 32 years at Spout Spring Nursing Home/Home for Adults and 25 years at Babcock Manor Assisted Living Facility. Rebecca served as the school nurse for one year but soon returned to her passion, which was long term care and geriatric nursing. She loved nursing and dedicated her life to it, continually studying and learning until her recent illness. Rebecca thrived on helping people in any way that she could, and she believed that such was her mission on earth; she always sought and found the good in others. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
