Thomas Willie Wickham

March 7, 1946 - February 15, 2022

Thomas Willie Wickham, passed away peacefully at Richfield Living Facility on, Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

He was born in Floyd, Virginia on March 7, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hazel Wickham; and his son-in-law, Joey Stogner.

His surviving family includes, his daughter, Laura Wickham; sons, Barry Wickham (Missy), Ben Wickham, and Seth Wickham; as well as grandsons, Justin Stogner and Branson Stogner. He is also survived by his sisters, Jeanette Slone, Diane Beason, Jill Wickham; and his brother, Douglas (Sylvia). Willie also had many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as a lot of friends.

Willie was a man of many talents. He could fix things. He built his own house and ran his own welding business. He loved to fish and garden. He was a regular at the Salem Farmers Market, where he sold vegetables from his large garden.

A graduate of Andrew Lewis High School, Willie was a member of the track team. Although small in stature, he ran the mile in 4 minutes and 44 seconds. He was also a member of the Army Reserves, where he served his country for 6 ½ years.

The family wishes to thank the CNA’S and Staff at Richfield for taking good care of Willie.

Those who knew Willie will remember his laugh and quick wit. Even in his last difficult months, he still cracked jokes. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at a gathering on Saturday, February 26, 2022 between 3 and 5 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home, 1330 East Main Street, Salem, Virginia. As was his wish, his ashes will be scattered at Bottom Creek at a later date.
