James Alexander Burks, Jr.
James Alexander Burks, Jr., 61, of Old Courthouse Road, died Friday, February 25, 2022. He was the loving husband of his high school sweetheart, Alice Faye Franklin Burks, for 41 years.
Born in Lynchburg, August 10, 1960, he was a son of James Alexander Burks, Sr., of Appomattox, and the late Cecil Faye Robertson Burks. James was a Front Line Manager with BWXT- NOG-L with 42 years of service. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the Rod & Gun Club at BWXT and Black Rock Hunt Club.
James was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and spent many hours on his family farm. His granddaughters were his greatest blessing, and he adored every moment with them.
In addition to his wife, and father, he is survived by two sons, James Alexander “J.B.” Burks, III, and wife, Megan of Appomattox and Matthew W. “Matt” Burks and Aquita Hancock of Concord; four grandchildren, Alexi Emerson Burks, Hailey Nicole Burks, Kaylee Marie Burks, and Destiny C. Lawson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
