William David Baker

On February 24th, 2022, William David “Dave” Baker, 70, passed away at his home in Roanoke, Virginia.

Dave was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to Ethel and Herbert Richard Baker. In his free time Dave liked to fish, hunt, ride horses, and tinker with computers. He worked as a mechanic at several companies including Vista Packing, Becker Groves, and Piper Aircraft. As a kind soul, Dave knew everyone around town. You couldn’t go to a store in Fort Pierce without bumping into someone he knew, and would talk for hours. He loved his wife and sons, and would do anything for them.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Baker; his sons, Richard Baker, William David Baker, and Andrew Bowen; his sisters, Tina Heffernan and Delores Hunter; and his brothers, Ronny Baker, Robert Baker, and James Baker; and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Hartley; father, Herbert Baker; sister, Amy Baker; and brothers, Stephon Eugene Baker and Wayne Baker.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019; a Visitation will be held one hour prior from 2-3pm.
