Janice Charity Kirby
Janice Charity Kirby transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on March 3, 2022 at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. She was born January 23, 1940 to Frederick and Alma Carter, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Brown, Jean Clemmons, Bertha Hairston and Birdie Jones; brothers, Howard Carter, Timothy Carter, Nathaniel Carter and Fred Carter, Jr.; brothers-in-law, George Brown, Bishop Samuel Clemmons, Bishop Melvin Jones and James Hairston.
She had been employed by American Standard Homes. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, going out to eat, and spending time with family and friends. She loved attending her church where she was an usher, and she sang in the convention choir, was a missionary and choir director. Janice was a member of Shiloh Apostolic Temple and worshipped at Mt. Sinai Apostolic Church whenever she could.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 60 years, John Kirby; daughter, Anita Dillard (Bobby); granddaughters, Chasity Kirby and Briana Dillard; great-granddaughter, Kalia Dillard; sisters, Senora Mayhan, Ada Carter and Siberia Hairston; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Alvin Turner and Deanna Geter.
