Shirlene C. McCallister

Shirlene C. McCallister 83, of Bassett, passed away on November 3, 2022, at Sovah of Martinsville. She was born in Patrick County, Va on December 24, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Ottis Cassell and the late Geneva Craig Cassell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Denver McCallister Sr.; her daughter, Brenda Sue Shiflett; her son, Denver McCallister Jr.; her sister, Fances Chaney; her brothers, Michael and Douglas Cassell.

Shirlene was a very talented beautician. She was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brothers, Claude E. Cassell, Coy “Bill” Cassell, David Cassell, Donnie Ray “Tom” Cassell, and Jimmy Leon Cassell; sisters, Virginia Dale Snow, and Patricia Sowers; 3 grandchildren, Daniel Paul, Joshua Donald, and Matthew Earl Shifflet; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. in the chapel of Bassett Funeral Service. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Cassell Family Cemetery with Pastors David Bishop and Brandon DuPont officiating.
