Stanley V. Prater

Stanley V. Prater, 68, of Bassett, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at his home.  He was born in Bassett, Virginia on February 7, 1954 to the late Billie Jack Prater, Sr. and the late Joanne Lemons Prater. 
He was a member of the Fairway Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.  He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad with 33 years of service, enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vicki W. Prater; two daughters, Jennifer P. Rumley (Eddie) and Melissa P. Rumley (Brandon); six grandchildren, Cierra, Makayla, Samara, Kamaya, Brandon, Jr. and Harden; four brothers, Billie Jack Prater, Jr., John Prater, Joe Prater, Ernest Prater; one sister, Deborah Trent and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 21, 2022 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM in the Fairway Baptist Church where the funeral will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Kirk Montgomery officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
