Gerald Harvey Bolen, Sr.

Gerald Harvey Bolen, Sr. of Thaxton passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. He was born on July 7, 1938, a son the late Thurman Lee and Beulah Young Bolen. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as Supervisor from the U. S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor Joyce Dillow Bolen; a son, Gerald H. Bolen, Jr. & wife, Susan of Mt. Airy, NC; daughters, Carol Scott of San Antonio, TX and Valerie Pickle of Fincastle, VA; brothers, Bunk Bolen of GA, Rick Bolen of FL and Rusty Bolen of Vinton, VA; a sister, Ann Ward & husband, Gene of WVA; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 12:00 noon at Updike Funeral Home Chapel in Bedford with Dr. Darrell Tate officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at Montvale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon prior to the service.
