Tanya Hairston Smith

Tanya Hairston Smith, 51, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at her residence. She was born December 15, 1970, in Henry, Virginia, to Lottie Dillard Hairston and the late Charlie R. Hairston.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Edd S. Smith and Rosie L. Dillard, and paternal grandparents, Ben and Ceila Mae Dillard.

Tanya was of the Holiness faith and attended Greater Vision Assembly Holiness Church. She had a big heart, loved people, enjoyed entertaining by hosting dinners, and loved spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Rick Smith; daughters, Taja Hairston and Jasmine Hairston; son, Travis L. Hairston; sister, Angela M. Woods; and eleven grandchildren, all of Martinsville; and a host of nephews, aunts, uncles, other family and friends.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Minister Demetria Redd officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service.
