George Willie Penn, Sr.

George Willie Penn, Sr., 94, of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Martinsville Health & Rehab. He was born May 22, 1927 in Henry County, to the late George Penn and Mary Eliza Seay Penn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie May Martin Penn, sons, George Penn, Jr. and Rodger Lewis Penn; and brothers, James Penn and Joseph Penn; and sister, Harriett Waller.

He had been employed by Bassett Superior Lines as a sprayer. He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and The Golden Girls on television, good food, nice cars, and spending time with family and friends. He loved to laugh and make other people laugh.

George is survived by his daughter, Barbara Ann Martin (James); sons, Ronnie Penn (Vanessa) and Stanley Penn; brother, Thomas Penn; grandchildren, Lawanda Martin (Deonne), Bradley Penn (Veronica), Glenda Penn, Tracy Keen, Ronald Penn, Heather Penn, Laneice Venable, Christopher Huff, Bradley Woods, and Timothy Gray (Ivy); and 14 great-grandchildren.

The Memorial Service will be Friday, April 22, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
