Janie Ruth Stinson Campbell

August 4, 1921 - April 19, 2022

Janie Ruth (Stinson) Campbell, 100 years old, entered her heavenly home the morning of April 19, 2022. Janie was born in Buckingham County, Virginia on August 4, 1921.

Daughter of Henry & Ada Stinson, she grew up in the hills of Virginia with 11 brothers & sisters on their homestead that provided food from the earth, a strong work ethic and a great love of family. Her parents & siblings preceded her in death.

Janie moved from Virginia to Maryland and married Kenneth H. Campbell on April 5, 1955. She worked in Washington DC in retail and as a meat packer for Swift & Co. She was a wonderful mother, raising two children: Joan (Jim) Douglas and Billy McCauley. Her husband of 41 years and both children preceded her in death.

When asked by an Elvis impersonator her secret of a long life, Janie’s reply was, “Lots of laughter and deep faith.” This is a legacy she has passed on to her 4 granddaughters, Deborah (Mike) Onyon of Goshen, IN; Cynthia (Tim) Ball of Springboro, OH; Kimberly(Adam) Pfeffer of Sparta, MI; and Pamela (Chris) Rose of South Lyon, MI. Her only grandson, Ronald Warden, Jr. of Waterford, MI, preceded her in death.

Janie’s 12 great-grandchildren have fond memories of her extraordinary cookies, love of card games and immense pig collection. Her 29 great-great grandchildren range in age from 6 mos. to 21 years old. Janie’s great strength and resilience are a gift and treasured heritage to her grandchildren and many nieces & nephews of the Stinson clan.

Janie moved from Maryland, closer to family, and became a resident of the Greencroft Goshen Community in 2013. At 92, she quickly adapted to her new surroundings in Manor IV. Janie began hosting a weekly 5 Crowns card party and developed a faithful group of friends at the Puzzle Table. She was known for her big birthday party celebrations. Janie will be missed by her dear friends at Greencroft.

Janie was cared for in her later years by her devoted granddaughter, Debbie Onyon.
