B.K. Hodges
B.K. Hodges, age 92 of Rocky Mount passed away peacefully Friday, January 19, 2024. Born to a family of ten, he did his part to help Franklin County keep their title of Moonshine Capitol by hauling and making. He drove race cars at Starkey Race Track and later enjoyed flagging at tracks in Wytheville. B.K. also owned AMOCO Service Stations in Rocky Mount. For the last 20 years he enjoyed going to Galax for the Fiddlers’ Conventions. Everyone got to know him for carrying his flatfoot board and dancing to every tune. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Zack Taylor Hodges and Mamie Stanley Hodges; brothers, Taylor Hodges (Mattie), Paul Hodges, Gordon Hodges (Louise); sister, Jean Ferguson (Ben); and brother-in-law, Robert Arrington. Surviving are his brothers, Palmer (Annie) Hodges, Dan (Mevva) Hodges; sisters, Carol (Danny) Strickler, Bobbie (D.L.) Holcomb, Sandra Arrington; numerous nieces and nephews. We will forever be grateful to Sarah, Karen, Lisa and the staff at Fork Mountain Rest Home for the love and care shown to our brother. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Wednesday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the Hodges Family Cemetery (Ruritan Road). His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
