Mrs. Barbara Ann Simmons Cruise, age 81, of Kernersville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Kate B. Reynalds Hospice Care in Winston-Salem.  She was born on March 6, 1942 in Surry County to the late James Dewey and Hulda Susan Nichols Simmons.  Mrs. Cruise was a member of Triad Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her.  Left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles Cruise (Rachel); daughter, Susan Nelson (Mark); grandchildren, Paul Cruise, Jordan Estes (Jayy), Chase Nelson, Nate, Nick, and Nash Bottomley; great-grandchildren, Lily, and Rowan Estes; sisters, Hilda Harbour, and Frances Peacock; brothers, Dr. Dean Simmons (Carole), Eugene Simmons (Betty), sister-in-law, Virginia Simmons as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Cruise was preceded in death by sisters, Madge York, Mary Sue Jarvis, Imogene Radford; brother, Wayne Simmons; brothers-in-law, Jack York, Wade Harbour, Lewis Peacock, Allan Jarvis, and Arnold Radford.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at White Plains Friends Meeting with service conducted by Rev. Dusty Ball.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time for the service.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Cruise to  the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery Fund, 849 Old US 601, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
