Barbara B. Hite
Barbara (Bobbie) Barnett Hite passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 30, 2023. She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a loving sister and aunt.
She was a Class of 1952 graduate of Andrew Lewis High School. She worked for the Bank of Salem, Rish Equipment Company, Valleydale Foods and Hallmark. She was a cherished lifetime member of First Christian Church in Salem.
Barbara loved most being around her family and friends. She also embraced many interests in life including music, singing, tending to her flowers and garden and reading her Bible. She was the epitome of goodness and was always positive, supportive and generous. She was known to always share kind words and a steadfast smile.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents Maynard (Red) Barnett and Annie Sowers Barnett as well as an adored sister Elizabeth (Booty) Mills, her brother-in-law Ray Mills, and her husband Robert (Bob) Hite, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Anne Harrison, her son and daughter in law James (Howard) and Annette Turner; stepson and wife Eddie and Debbie Hite. She is also survived by her granddaughter and husband Elizabeth (Biz) and Greg Aldridge; grandson and wife Jordan and Katie Turner; step-grandson and wife Corey and Katie Hite; several great-grandchildren, Eric and Maigan Aldridge, Emily, Eli and Sadie Turner and Bailey and Finley Hite; beloved sister Carolyn Helton and brother-in-lawDonnie Helton; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
The family will receive friends at First Christian Church in Salem from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024. The memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. There will be light refreshments following the service in the fellowship hall.
