Barbara Driskill Blunt
Barbara Driskill Blunt, 94, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 21, 1931, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Rachel Driskill.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Linwood “Jimmy” Blunt; five daughters, Susan Blunt, Robbie Arthur (Derrick), Kay Collie (Tim), Dana Andrews, Janice Tweedy (Romain); seven grandchildren, Shaman (Nastasha), Kari (Chris), Lori, Will, Christine (Brandon), Nathan and Bridget; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, David (Patricia) and niece, Sara.
Barbara was a faithful member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church where she was part of a group of ladies that made “prayer quilts” given to church members going through difficult times. She loved serving others and volunteered with her husband “Jimmy” delivering Meals on Wheels, visiting the homebound from her church and preparing lunches for the visually impaired. Barbara was a girl scout leader for many years and was devoted to mentoring and guiding the young girls in her community. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Timothy Program with Churches for Urban Ministries. She was an excellent cook and was happiest when her family was together enjoying good food and fellowship.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. Carlton Duck officiating. The graveside committal will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
