Barbara Hicks Fulghum

February 20, 1954 - February 26, 2025

Barbara Hicks Fulghum, 71, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She was born on February 20, 1954, in Dillon, South Carolina, to the late Charles Denver Hicks, a WW II veteran, and Margaret Williams Hicks. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Hicks Jr: Kenneth Horne and a special sister-in-law, Pearl Horne.

Barbara was very proud of her work in the electric power world. She started work as a secretary at the CP&L H.F. Lee Electric Generating plant in Goldsboro in 1974. Her career took her as a Senior Business Financial Analyst to the CP&L Corporate office. She most loved the duties of that position that required travel to the different plant sites to support outage activities. She continued as a Senior Business Financial Analyst, even after accepting an early retirement offer after nearly 30 years of service.

She was a member of Tee’s Full Throttle Cruisers Car Club located in Collinsville, Virginia. She was always up for a good laugh, always smiling and had a mischievous giggle and grin. She loved the mountains, trips on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and just rocking away on her front porch in the country.

Barbara is survived by her significant other, Steve, daughter, Michelle Moody Wolff (Thomas); sisters, Betty Ann Mathews and Margaret Faye Duvall; grandchildren, Trevor, Ian, and Della; a canine companion, Sasha; and feline companions, Socks, Princeton and Shadow.

Currently, due to a dispersed nature, and diverse schedule demands of the surviving family members, a private family service is being planned for a later date, in which her ashes will be scattered at her favorite Blue Ridge Parkway Overlook.

Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory – Martinsville is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.norrisfuneral.com. In lieu of any flowers, donations may be made, in remembrance of Barbara, to the Henry County, Va. Animal Shelter.
