Barbara Snider McDonald

 
Barbara “Tinker” Snider McDonald, 80 of Ripplemead, VA departed this earth for heaven on August 14, 2023, in the care of Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital.  Barbara was born in Giles County on December 12, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Garland H. Snider and Stella Bailey Snider.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Kent McDonald, Sr., stepson, Darrell Kent McDonald, Jr., stepdaughter, Mary Elizabeth McDonald, step-grandson, Joshua McDonald and sister Linda Snider Stewart.
 
Barbara was retired from Virginia Tech.
 
Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are brother, Clyde Snider (Nancy) of Narrows, sisters, Brenda Martin of Pembroke, Carol Punturi (Danny) of Montcalm, WV, Shirley Sessor (Mikey) of Goldbond, daughter-in-law, Libby McDonald of NC, brother-in-law, James Russell McDonald of Rich Creek, “Special” son, Danny Suroski (Samantha) of Ripplemead, “Special” niece, Debbie Stewart (Dave) of Pearisburg and many nieces and nephews.
 
There will be a graveside service conducted Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 11:00am at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.  In lieu of flowers, family request memorial contributions be made in her honor to St. Jude’s Medical Center or a charity of your choice.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
