Barbara Sue Amos
Barbara Sue Amos, age 55, of Roanoke, VA, formerly of New Jersey, Michigan, Colorado, and Arizona, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was born on August 8, 1968. Barbara belonged to various bowling and volleyball leagues throughout her lifetime. She also had many other interests such as: crafting, reading, decorating, singing, wedding planning, board games, and swing dancing. As a Personal Banker/Asst Bank Manager in Michigan, Barbara became involved with the Rotary Club. She attended Haddon Heights Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, and Northeastern Baptist Church during her lifetime.
Barbara taught Sunday school and was instrumental in her church’s Vacation Bible School, Awana, Olympian, and Mom’s Life programs. In these capacities, she truly loved ministering to children. She especially enjoyed being involved in various Bible studies. Barbara also supported several different pregnancy centers and homeless shelters. Her happy place was always at the Jersey Shore. Barbara adored her family who, along with all who knew her, will miss her dearly.
Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Zora Ann Pennypacker Amos; stepmother, Jean Haven Amos; brother-in-law, Duane Emerson Van Buren; and her husband, Brett Andrew Graves.
Left to cherish her memory include her father, John Alvin Amos, III of NJ; siblings: Robin L. Amos Van Buren of AZ, Peter A. Amos (Jennifer) of NJ; step-sisters: Beth Ann Haven Fener (Ronald) of DE, Nancy Haven Gervasi (Joseph) of NJ, Mimi Haven Wheeler (Douglas) of NY, and Amy Jo Haven Reynolds (Ted) of NJ; mother and father-in-law, Rick and Nancy Offerson; nieces and nephews: Brieanna and Kaitie Van Buren; Amaris Amos Tangen (Erik),Serena Amos; Alexandra and Matthew Gervasi; Jackson, Caroline, and James Wheeler; Evelyn, Audrey, and Lila Reynolds; great-nephew and niece, Carson and Eleanor Tangen.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Haddon Heights Baptist Church located at 300 Station Ave, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Refreshments to follow service.
The family wishes to thank all of Barbara’s wonderful and loving friends in VA, with special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lewis-Gale Medical Center.
