Barry Leroy Spradlin

May 3, 1949 - August 13, 2025

Barry Leroy Spradlin Sr., 76, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Estelle Spradlin; six brothers and two sisters; and a stepson, John Proctor.

Barry was a true outdoorsman who felt most at home in nature. He loved the patience of fishing, the challenge and reward of hunting, and the art of capturing the world through his camera lens-developing his own film and even having one of his photographs published. One of his proudest accomplishments was harvesting a magnificent 10-point buck in 2020 after over 50 years of hunting, a trophy he displayed with great pride and a story he loved to share. Barry was also a talented machinist and craftsman, creating beautiful furniture and able to fix anything he put his hands to. Beyond his many skills, he was an exceptional father who devoted his life to his children. He treasured every moment with his family-whether on a hunting trip or canoeing, building something together, sharing a meal, or simply enjoying stories. His love, talents, and character will remain a lasting part of his legacy, as seen in the lives of his children.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rebecca Spradlin; children, Barry Spradlin Jr., Jason Spradlin (Jessica), Rose-Amber (ReeRee) Haskins (David), Elizabeth Taylor (Robert), and Tyler (Taylore); grandchildren, Eve, Molly, Heather May, Everett, Hunter, Brody, Emilyn, Elizabeth, Maria, Becca, Jax, and Everly; great-granddaughter, Cleo; and a very special sister, Joyce Nottingham.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Paul Stover officiating.
