Barry "Pete" Lawson Clifton

Barry “Pete” Lawson Clifton, 74, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025. Pete was born in Danville, VA on January 13, 1950 to the late Ella Mae Swain Clifton and the late John Eldriff Clifton. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mrs. Carol Clifton.

Pete was of the Christian Faith, where he regularly attended North Danville Church of Christ. He worked for many years as a tire builder for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, previous to his retirement. Pete was an avid golfer and was a past member of Tuscarora Golf Club and enjoyed playing at Goodyear Golf Club as well. He also loved riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by two sons; Brandon Scott Clifton and Barry Todd Clifton; a brother; Dan Clifton; a sister; Peggy Ruocco; and special friends; Raymond Newman,  Joe Davis, David "Duke" Talley, and David Jones.

In addition to his parents, Pete was predeceased by a daughter; Leslie Carol Clifton; and two sisters; Joni Bass and Betty Johnson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 3:00pm with Minister Hershel Stone officiating at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 2-3:00pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence.
