Basil Lee Mustard

May 12, 1938 - August 20, 2022

BASIL LEE MUSTARD, 84, of the Bearsprings Community of Trigg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at his home. He was born May 12, 1938 in Trigg, VA, the son of the late William Woodrow & Mary Hamblin Mustard.

Basil was an active member of Riverview Baptist Church and enjoyed helping with the annual Wild Game dinners. He retired from Celanese with 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Panama. Basil was an avid farmer and was the proud owner of the Mustard Angus Farm. He attended the Denton Antique Farm Equipment Festival and Tractor Show for thirty years and won over 250 first place trophies for Tractor Pull Contests. He enjoyed working on antique tractors and enjoyed traveling. He enjoyed helping each year with the Hamblin Family annual molasses making.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Woodrow & Mary Hamblin Mustard, the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Hazel Lorrane Keffer Mustard, his brother, Bobby Mustard and his sister-in-law, Sue Ferrell Mustard.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, James Wallace Mustard (Teena Ferrell); his sister-in-law, Judy Mustard; a special niece and caregiver, Deborah (“Sissy”) Vest; a special great niece, Barbara (“Pixie”) Thomas; special friends, Stacy Lucas and Cristie Cumbee; and many other nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends, too many to list.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, with Rev. Shahn Wilburn and Charles Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamblin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until service time, 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Basil’s honor to the Eggleston Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 67, Eggleston, VA, 24086-0067.
