Benjamin Jon White
I write with deep sadness to let you know that Ben White, longtime financial journalist, died on Saturday evening. The cause was complications from ongoing heart issues.
Ben loved being a reporter and worked at the biggest news outlets during his thirty year career in journalism. After starting out at National Journal’s Hotline during its early years, Ben went to the Washington Post, the Financial Times, the New York Times and Politico. He originated the Morning Money column and grew it to a story- breaking must-read for everyone straddling the worlds of finance and politics. Along the way he appeared as a commentator on CNBC and MSNBC. Ben took sports fandom to the next level, and his political observations always came with a side of sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Washington Commanders and the New York Yankees.
Ben grew up in Chevy Chase DC where he attended the Edmund Burke School. He graduated from Kenyon College. He is survived by his two sons and their mother, Jacob, Raphael, and Robin, his brother Mark, and his partner Sara.
