Benjamin Roosevelt “Bennie” Martin, 90, of Appomattox passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Appomattox Health and Rehab. He was the husband of Dorothy McFadden Martin.

Born in Appomattox on July 8, 1932, he was the son of the late John Sam Martin, Sr. and Virginia Caroline Cornett Martin. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.  Bennie was employed by Lynchburg Plate Glass from 1964 to 1991 and then Appomattox Glass and Storefront from 1991 until his retirement in 2020.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, R. Keith Martin and wife, Connie, Deborah “Debbie” Guthrie and husband, Johnny, all of Appomattox, Jeffrey Alan “Jeff” Martin and wife, Dani of Benbrook, TX, Eddie Lynn Martin and wife, Tina of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Darryl Martin and wife, JoEllen of Green Cove Springs, FL; 11 grandchildren, Heather Cheatham and husband, Tim, Felicia Mann and husband, Ben, Kristi White and husband, Brandon, Brandy Bryant and husband, Curtis, Justin Johnson, Paul Johnson, Andrea Martin, Staci Gillespie and husband, Don, Stefanie Fike and husband, Steven, Katie Martin, and Andrew Martin and wife, Ari; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Sam Martin, Jr, and Milton Martin; and two sisters, Julia Gallier, and Mary Katherine Mayberry.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Monday, November 28, 2022, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Darryl Martin officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
