Benjamin "Wilson" Hodges

Benjamin “Wilson” Hodges, 86, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at Stanleytown Health and Rehab. He was born October 28, 1937, in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late Vascar Hodges, Sr. and Hattie Hudson Hodges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Hodges; two sisters, Minnie Martin, and Mazel Marshall; and three brothers, Vascar Hodges, Jr., Clyde Hodges, and Richard Hodges.

Wilson proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He loved playing cards in his free time, especially friendly games of poker. He had a passion for traveling, which brought him to living in various states throughout his life. He was known as a kind, generous, and outgoing person.

He is survived by one son, Wilson Hodges, Jr.; one brother Riley Hodges (Carolyn); two sisters, Irene Sophie Greer, and Betty Wagoner; three grandchildren, Jessica Hodges, Andy Stidam, and Candy Brewer; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow at Hudson Family Cemetery located on Craft Ford Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia.
